Lee Schneller Sligh will present a program on Japanese gardens at the next meeting of the Garden Club of Wiscasset on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the First Congregational Church, 28 High St., Wiscasset. It will feature photos from recent trips to Japan as well as some pictures from gardens that Sligh has built in Maine.
Sligh earned degrees in Chinese language and Asian history, studied in China, and lived in Japan for four years. She worked as a Japanese technical translator for 10 years before founding Lee Schneller Fine Gardens in Camden. Sligh attented the Kyoto University of Art and Design seminar on Japanese gardens in 2003. She also wrote a bestselling book on continuously blooming garden design called “The Ever-Blooming Flower Garden : A Blueprint for Continuous Color.”
Refreshments will be served after the program and the public is invited free of charge. If the Wiscasset schools are closed due to weather, the meeting will be canceled.
