For those who have children who aren’t in school yet and are looking for things to do, Healthy Kids play groups will be adding kid’s yoga, instant-pot mac ’n’ cheese cooking, and kids African drumming to the many activities offered at the weekly play groups.
Families attending the play groups will be eligible to win a kids yoga mat, an “instant pot,” and a child’s African drum at those specific events.
Instant-pot mac ’n’ cheese will be offered on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the play group held in Wiscasset at the First Congregational Church, and on Monday, Feb. 25 at Healthy Kids offices in Damariscotta.
Kids yoga will be held on Monday, Feb. 11 at Healthy Kids offices and Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Boothbay Region YMCA.
African drumming will be held Friday, March 22 in Waldoboro at the Waldoboro United Methodist Church on Friendship Street and on Monday, March 25 at Healthy Kids offices in Damariscotta.
All play groups run from 10 a.m. to noon and are free.
These activities foster healthy ways to use one’s body and relax, healthy ways to cook, and rhythm/music activities that foster brain development. The yoga class will follow the very kid-friendly Cosmic Kids Yoga.
Parents and children can do as much or as little as they feel comfortable doing during all of these activities, while talking with other parents and playing with other children. There are many other activities such as crafts, dance parties, and balloon fun scheduled at each play group site and all play groups are held weekly.
