A pancake breakfast fundraiser for the March of Dimes is planned for Saturday, April 8 from 9-11 a.m. at the Damariscotta Baptist Church, 4 Bristol Road, Damariscotta. The event will be hosted by Team Garron, who raises money in memory of Garron Martin through the March of Dimes March for Babies event.
The pancake breakfast, coordinated by area resident and Team Garron walker Kelsey Schwarz, will feature pancakes and sides, coffee, and beverages. The suggested donation is $5 per person or $20 per family. This is a family-friendly event and children are welcome.
March for Babies walks are hosted in several communities throughout the state in late April and May, including Portland, Rockland, Augusta, Bangor, Biddeford, Houlton, and Lewiston.
Team Garron consists of 20 members from the Midcoast and Southern Maine communities, including team captain and owner of The Animal House, Aubrey Martin. Her son Garron was born prematurely and died in 2009. To date, Team Garron has raised more than $30,000 for the Maine chapter of the March of Dimes.
The next Team Garron event after the pancake breakfast will be an open-mic night at Savory Maine Dining & Provisions, located at 11 Water St. in Damariscotta, on Wednesday, April 12 from 5-9 p.m.
For those unable to attend but would still like to donate, Team Garron’s secure donation site is marchforbabies.org/team/t2735186. Donations may also be dropped off at The Animal House, located at 15 Coastal Marketplace in Damariscotta, with checks made out to the March of Dimes.
