Oktoberfest Waldoboro is a celebration of Waldoboro’s German heritage and will take place on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a rain date of Oct. 13. It will be held at Cider Hill Farm, located at 785 Main St. in Waldoboro.
The schedule of events for that day is:
For adults:
11 a.m. to noon — Nagelbalken, a German nail game
Noon-1 p.m. — Barrel roll race
1-2 p.m. — Beer tray relay
2 -3 p.m. — Waldoboro trivia contest, run by members of the Waldoborough Historical Society
3-3:30 p.m. — Nagelbalken
For children:
11 a.m. to noon — Sir Douglas and His Puppets
12:30-1 p.m. — Sack race
1-2 p.m. — Sir Douglas and His Puppets
2:30-3:30 p.m. – Magician Conjuring Carroll
Music:
10 a.m. to noon — The Rusty Hinges
Noon-1 p.m. — Kat Logan
1-3 p.m. — Oktoberfest German Band
Ongoing will be pumpkin decorating and cookie decorating for children, and cornhole and Giant Jenga for all ages.
In addition, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Jean Lawrence, of the Waldoborough Historical Society, will give talks about Waldoboro’s German history at the German Church on Route 32 in Waldoboro.
There will be soft pretzels, a selection of smoked sausages, kraut, and stuffed pork loin sandwiches from Morse’s Sauerkraut; German desserts from Sweet Morning Bakery; ice cream from Total Victory Ice Cream; plus hamburgers and hot dogs from the Narrows Tavern. On the premises is Barstow Farms, which sells pizza, calzones, sandwiches, a hot meal of the day, and a variety of beverages. There will also be a biergarten for adults age 21 and over.
