The next meeting of the old Bristol Garden Club will occur on Thursday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church, 51 Main St., Newcastle. Following a short business discussion, Jim Masse will present a program on favorite spring plants.
Jim Masse, the nursery manager at Estabrook’s Garden Center, is a self-described rabid plant geek and to his customers a “Garden Guru”.
Since graduating in 1993 from the horticultural program of what is now Southern Maine Community College, Masse has worked extensively in residential gardening and for the past 17 years in nursery sales and service at Estabrook’s.
A native Mainer from Brunswick, Masse has lent his knowledge of the Maine landscape and its challenges to many a coastal garden. He always strives to make one’s garden their vision and not his.
Estabrook’s is a full-service, family-owned and -operated garden center. Their flagship location is in Yarmouth but they also have a seasonal location in Kennebunk.
Masse will be bringing an assortment of plants for sale and inspiration after his talk. Attendees will also have the opportunity to have their gardening questions answered just in time for spring planting.
Following the program, tea and cookies will be served by this month’s tea committee: Connie Bright, Betty Sparrell, Patsy Fales, and Sally Hough. All are welcome to attend and new members can join at any time.
If AOS 93 is closed due to inclement weather, the meeting will be canceled as well.
