A special evening Chats with Champions program, “Our Diverse Entrepreneurs – Their Story and Why They Are Staying Local” will take place Tuesday, May 23 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Porter Meeting Hall of Skidompha Library. Please allow time for parking.
Damariscotta is experiencing an increase in new businesses. The community is also benefiting from the next generation taking the reins from longtime existing businesses, and a significant number of entrepreneurs who are “working where they live” – telecommuting to businesses located all over the country while choosing to live here.
Growth has happened in every sector, demonstrating that these young entrepreneurs are significant drivers in our local economy. They bring a competitive advantage to the area’s economy that is mostly unknown to the greater community.
Skidompha’s Chats with Champions has invited four of these business owners, each having deep roots in Damariscotta, to share their story. They are August Avantaggio, Riverside Butcher Co.; Michelle Phelps, Phelps Architects Inc.; John Roberts, Lincoln County Publishing Co.; and Jennifer Villeneuve, Gallagher, Villeneuve and DeGeer PLLC.
Mary Kate Reny, herself a local entrepreneur, will moderate the discussion. All four of these business owners have different jobs and make different contributions, but all of them have a common thread – a deep connection to Damariscotta.
There will be a chance to mingle with these local champions afterward over (local, of course) beer and wine at the library.
Chats with Champions is a free community offering from the national award-winning Skidompha Library and is sponsored by Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop. For more information, call 563-5513.
