The South Bristol Historical Society will hold its final 2017 program on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the UCC Parish Hall on Rutherford Island. The program will celebrate the South Bristol Ladies Aid Society, highlighting a cookbook it produced in 1930. Reprinted copies of the cookbook are available for $10 each and refreshments that night will feature recipes from the cookbook.
The Ladies Aid societies were instrumental in supporting communities throughout the U.S. in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The South Bristol Ladies Aid Society raised money that made it possible to build a church and later a parsonage.
People are invited to come and share their own stories of who these wonderful women were and enjoy the delightful cookbook they put together. All are welcome. For more information, contact Sue Edwards at 644-1045 or Donna Plummer at 644-8443.
