The Olde Bristol Days committee is excited to announce, once again, that Portland’s finest reggae band, Stream, will be returning on Saturday, June 11 to rock the harbor at The Contented Sole restaurant in New Harbor, overlooking the Pemaquid River and John’s Bay. The Rock the Harbor event will begin at 4 p.m. on that day.
The restaurant’s proprietors and their crew are known for their superb menu and have agreed to provide an assortment of $6 items. Baxter Brewing Co. is planning specials on beer, as well as giveaways, such as brewery tours, Rock the Harbor T-shirts, Portland Sea Dogs tickets, and other items. Additionally, a nautical-themed photo prop corner will be set up for lasting memories — bring an iPhone!
The evening will include two bands, including the headliner – summertime-vibe, dance-crazy Stream reggae band. Tickets are on sale now for $20 per person. Tickets will be $25 at the door if not sold out, children included. Bring ID; no one will be served without one.
Pint glasses will be available once again this year for $10. Artist Chad Hanna, originally from Round Pond, has created a second-annual Rock the Harbor glass logo. With the purchase of a glass, one will receive savings on select draft beer at The Contented Sole all summer long.
All proceeds from this event will go directly to the wonderful week of entertainment for the whole family at Olde Bristol Days in August. The organizers of Olde Bristol Days are trying hard to raise enough money to once again provide all activities at no cost to the public. Last year’s event offered face painting, a caricaturist, two days of live music, pony rides, a petting zoo, rock-and-roll remote-control car racing, fireworks, and more.
As always, volunteers are needed to run an event of this size. For more information and for tickets, go to oldebristoldays.org or contact Sheila McLain at rentals@ldchase.com or 677-2100, or Laurie Mahan at mahanlaurie@yahoo.com or 677-3725.
