Books and pies, plus made-to-order picnic sandwiches and another Lu Archer quilt, all are on offer at this year’s St. Giles’ Episcopal Church summer event scheduled for Saturday, July 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Browse an impressive array of fiction, mysteries, biographies, and children’s books. One will also find history, current affairs, politics, poetry, religion, and cookbooks in the collection, and books on tape, CDs, games, and jigsaw puzzles.
The home-baked pie collection will include the usual favorites: apple, berry, and lemon meringue, plus a few surprises, ready to take home and slice or freeze. There will be a big selection, but they go fast, so come early. Preorders are available.
This year’s new feature, picnic sandwiches made just for the customer, can be enjoyed under the pines at St. Giles’ or saved for a later treat.
Archer, a well-known master quilter, donated quilts for St. Giles’ fundraisers for over 40 years. This year, the church is raffling a lightweight herringbone-pattern lap quilt that Archer created for the 2014 St. Giles’ fair. The estimated value is $400. Tickets are $5 or five for $20. The drawing will be held at 2 p.m. at the end of the book sale. The winner does not need to be present.
