Kaja Vieilleux of Thomaston Place Auction Galleries in Thomaston will host the live auction featured at the Medomak Valley Land Trust’s Summer Sizzle. The annual fundraiser for this local nonprofit organization will be held Sunday, Aug. 20 at Tops’l Farm, 364 Bremen Road, Waldoboro. Guests will enjoy cocktails, dinner, and dancing, plus they will have the opportunity to bid on imaginative, one-of-a-kind experiences and handcrafted items while helping to keep Maine green.
One may want to bid on the half-day Work Day on one’s property compliments of the hardworking Medomak Valley Land Trust Wednesday trail crew. Or perhaps one would like to experience the watershed in a delicious way with a champagne and oyster cruise on the Medomak River on the Snowgoose III. One can bid on an easy entertaining cooking class with Kim Gallagher, former recipe developer and cooking school instructor for Stonewall Kitchen, or one can bid on a 24-foot boat slip with plenty of parking and a boat locker at Flying Passage marine landing in Bremen.
The silent auction will feature custom-made mother-and-daughter (or son) go-together ski hats. Sign up for a selection of delicious Lakin Gorges cheeses made from the milk of calm, friendly cows (visit them on their South Waldoboro farm on Route 220). Bid on a Lie-Nielson Toolworks No. 60 1/2 adjustable mouth-block plane, useful for every woodworking project and a pleasure to use — and named Top Tool five years in a row by the Fine Woodworking Guide.
Summer Sizzle tickets are $75 in advance and $80 at the door and are available by calling 832-5570 or going to medomakvalley.org. Advance reservations are recommended.
