Tuesday, Aug. 21 — Trail mixer at Cross River Preserve: From 10-11 a.m., at the Cross River Preserve, 291 Route 27, Boothbay, discover the Boothbay Region Land Trust preserves and meet fellow hikers. These reoccurring walks highlight subtle changes through the seasons, while allowing plenty of time to enjoy vistas and conversation. Knowledgeable volunteers lead participants on a leisurely paced hike averaging one or two miles in length on easy to moderate terrain. Trail mixer locations rotate among the preserves of the region. Participants may attend one hike or several. The group meets at the trailhead parking lot and registration is not required.
This week’s volunteer trail mixer leader is Nancy Adams and the group will meet at the Cross River Preserve parking lot. For more information, contact Boothbay Region Land Trust Environmental Educator Tracey Hall at thall@bbrlt.org or 633-4818.
Friday, Aug. 31 — Night hike at Oak Point Farm: From 7:30-8:30 p.m., join the Boothbay Region Land Trust for a night hike at Oak Point Farm, 60 Samoset Road, Boothbay Harbor.
What happens in nature when the sun goes down? Leave the flashlights at home and join in on a real adventure in the dark. A naturalist will led the group on a short and easy walk through field and forest. Hikers will stop along the way to investigate the ways people’s senses work in the dark and learn how animals have adapted to living without light. The hike is limited to 12 participants, with registration required. For more information or to register, contact Hall at thall@bbrlt.org or call 633-4818.
