Tuesday, July 18 — Nature hike at Cross River Preserve, Boothbay: From 10-11 a.m., discover the woods, fields, and waterways of the Boothbay region, and learn about the plants and animals that call them home. The group will meet at the trailhead parking lot on Route 27, Boothbay. Registration is not required.
Wednesday, July 19 — Babes in the Woods: From 10-11 a.m. at the Ocean Point Preserve, Van Horn Road, East Boothbay. Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their babies, toddlers, and older siblings on this slow-paced, short-distance hike with the Boothbay Region Land Trust. Special emphasis is made on sensory exploration of ecological themes. This event is free and includes a healthy snack. Please bring water and sun protection, and wear clothing that can get muddy. The group will meet at the trailhead parking lot and registration is not required. This week’s theme is “Flower Power.”
Friday, July 21 — Wildlife biology walk and talk: From 10-11:30 a.m., at Lobster Cove Meadow Preserve, Eastern Avenue, Boothbay Harbor, this is a hike with regional biologist Keel Kemper of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. Learn about the role his organization has in our state and what work is being done for wildlife. As people walk, Keel will share information about the animals in the region and how they interact with their environment, and answer any questions one may have about wildlife. Registration required.
Tuesday, July 25 — Nature hike at Schoolhouse Pond Preserve: From 10-11 a.m., enjoy the subtle changes on the preserve and meet some fellow hikers. The group will meet at the trailhead parking lot, which is on Cross Road, Trevett (Barter Island), and registration is not required.
Wednesday, July 26 — Babes in the Woods: From 10-11 a.m., at the Gregory Hiking Trail, 2 Sawyer’s Island Road, Boothbay. This slow-paced, short-distance walk focuses on discovery and observation of the natural world. Special emphasis is made on sensory exploration of ecological themes. This event is free and includes a healthy snack. Bring water and sun protection, and wear clothing that can get muddy. The group will meet at the trailhead parking lot and registration is not required. This week’s theme is “Terrific Trees.”
