Now in its 17th season, the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum, at 97 Cross Road in Alna, will welcome a special visitor from the North Pole for its Victorian Christmas trains. Victorian Christmas will take place during the two Saturdays prior to Christmas Day, on Dec. 16 and 23.
The event takes place snow or shine and includes train rides to visit with Santa Claus himself, horse-drawn wagon (or sleigh) rides, ornament making, snacks, and more. Trains will leave throughout the day, with the first leaving at 10:30 a.m. As a thank you to the museum’s friends and neighbors throughout the Sheepscot Valley, the event is entirely free of charge.
To help cope with the large number of visitors expected, reservations are recommended. They are available free online at wwfrytickets.simpletix.com. Additionally, a limited number of passes will be available on the day of the event. Victorian Christmas has become a tradition for many families from the Midcoast and beyond. To facilitate parking, ticketing, and boarding, attendees should plan on arriving an hour prior to train departure.
