The Waldo Theatre Board of Directors will hold an ice cream social – the Waldo Theatre Sundae Social — from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18 to meet with the public and discuss what’s going on with the theater and with volunteer opportunities. The event will be held at the Soule-Shuman Memorial VFW Post on Mill Street in Waldoboro. The Sundae Social is free, but donations will be accepted.
“We have a fairly fresh board now,” said Acting President Melissa Smith. “The Sundae Social will give everyone a chance to meet and speak with our new members, and we’ll also give an update about the theater’s status and take questions from the public.
“Rekindling our connections with the town and the area is extremely important to us and crucial for the theater, and this is a step in that direction,” Smith said. “Post Commander John Blodgett was kind enough to offer the use of the VFW hall to help us in that effort, which we’re grateful for.”
The Waldo Theatre is also opening its main lobby to the public for the Waldoboro Art Walk on Saturday, Sept. 10, and board members will be on hand to receive visitors. Any artists interested in displaying in the lobby are encouraged to contact the theater.
