“Bad Moms” plays through Thursday, Aug. 25, followed by Woody Allen’s “Cafe Society,” this week at The Harbor Theatre.
“Bad Moms” is the story of Amy (Mila Kunis), who has a great husband, overachieving children, a beautiful home, and a successful career. Unfortunately, she’s also overworked, exhausted, and ready to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other stressed-out mothers (Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn) to get away from daily life and conventional responsibilities. As the gals go wild with their newfound freedom, they set themselves up for the ultimate showdown with PTA queen bee Gwendolyn and her clique of seemingly perfect moms.
“Bad Moms” is rated R (for sex, profanity, drugs, and smoking). It plays at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25.
Set in the 1930s, Woody Allen’s bittersweet romance “Café Society” follows Bronx-born Bobby Dorfman (Jesse Eisenberg) to Hollywood, where he falls in love, and back to New York, where he is swept up in the vibrant world of high-society nightclub life. Centering on events in the lives of Bobby’s colorful Bronx family, the film is a glittering valentine to the movie stars, socialites, playboys, debutantes, politicians, and gangsters who epitomized the excitement and glamour of the age.
With Jeannie Berlin, Steve Carell, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Kristen Stewart, Corey Stoll, and Ken Stott.
“Cafe Society” is rated PG-13. It plays at 7 p.m., Friday-Thursday, Aug. 26-Sept. 1, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28.
Coming Friday-Sunday, Sept. 2-4: Robert Redford in “Pete’s Dragon”
