The Christmas tree is up outside Kings Mills Union Hall in Whitefield, waiting for Santa Claus to help turn on the lights this Sunday, Dec. 8.
The party, which will run from 3-5 p.m., includes carols and Christmas songs, refreshments, and craft activities for kids, who will be waiting for the Jolly Old Elf. Santa arrives to join them between 4 and 4:30 p.m.
The traditional celebration dates back to the middle 20th century and was revived by the Kings Mills Union Hall Association soon after the historic hall was placed on the National Register of Historic Places about 12 years ago.
All are invited to gather with friends and neighbors to ring in the holiday season and continue a community tradition. The hall is located opposite the Kings Mills firehouse on Townhouse Road, near the intersection with Route 194, in Whitefield.
