Despite a speedy response from local firefighters, fire destroyed a single-wide mobile home at 24 Fowle Hill Road in Wiscasset the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Fire Chief T.J. Merry said the fire started in the electrical breaker box and “was going pretty good in the south end of the home” when firefighters arrived.
“The guys made a good stop. They did a good job knocking it down. It didn’t take them long to get to mop-up stage,” Merry said.
Merry did not know the property owners’ names, but said they recently moved into the home. No one was hurt in the fire.
The Lincoln County Communications Center dispatched the Wiscasset Fire Department at 8:02 a.m. for a report of a fire in the fuse box. The communications center dispatched departments from neighboring towns 10 minutes later.
