The Medomak Valley High School cheerleaders won their eighth straight Regional championship at the Augusta Civic Center on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Panthers scored 76.2 points to win the South B championships and beat out second place team Gray New Gloucester by 9.4 points. Also qualifying for States were Leavitt, Morse, Mt.Valley and Spruce Mountain.
Lincoln Academy placed 13th in South B with 30.2 points.
In Class C South competition, Wiscasset finished fourth and Boothbay Region sixth to qualify for States. Wiscasset scored 51.7 points and Boothbay 45.1. Lisbon won the South C competition with 67.5 points. Sacopee Valley was second, Monmouth third and Dirigo fifth.
Medomak, Wiscasset and Boothbay squads will compete at the state championships in Bangor on Feb. 10.
