A Somerville woman on her way to church escaped injury when her minivan rolled over on East Pond Road in Nobleboro, near Route 1, the morning of Sunday, March 3.
Sheila A. McInnis, 58, of Somerville, was driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey south, toward Route 1, when she met some northbound vehicles while going around a corner, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mark Bridgham. McInnis thought the northbound vehicles were too close to her, so she moved toward the shoulder.
Once her passenger-side tires were in the snow on the soft shoulder, McInnis overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, Bridgham said. The van rotated 180 degrees, struck an embankment, mailbox, and stone wall, and came to rest on its driver’s side, facing north.
McInnis was the sole occupant of the vehicle, Bridgham said.
The Lincoln County Communications Center dispatched emergency services at 9:34 a.m. The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and Nobleboro Fire Department responded.
The fire department directed traffic around the scene before briefly closing the road to allow for the vehicle’s removal.
