A. Lillian Main, 88, of Wiscasset, died June 15 at St. Andrew’s Hospital in Boothbay Harbor.
She was born in Damariscotta on May 19, 1922, a daughter of Harry W. and Arbor Day (Jackson) Sidelinger.
She attended schools in Massachusetts, Newcastle and Lincoln Academy. On Aug. 17, 1946 she married Carl J. Main. She was employed at the Ledges Inn for 17 years, was a caterer and during WWII she was employed at Bath Iron Works. She also took care of elderly residents in the Wiscasset area in their homes.
She enjoyed building rock walls, gardening and swimming.
She was a member of the Wiscasset Community Center in Wiscasset.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl J. Main on Oct. 20, 1985; brothers, Kenneth, Warren, Harold, Harry, Frank and Robert; and sisters, Dot Sidelinger, Ida Sidelinger and Bessie Van Horn.
She is survived by sons, James Main and wife Judi of Wiscasset, Harold Main and wife Eldina of South Boston, W. Richard Main and companion Sally Guild of Wiscasset and Donald F. Main and companion Shirley Goodger of Spencer, Okla.; daughter, Margaret Pafume and husband Joseph of Brunswick, Ga.; sister, Arlena Collins of Pittston; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m. on Thurs., June 17 at Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset. Funeral service 2 p.m., Fri., June 18 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
