Adele E. McFarland, 78 years young, was called to join her husband Frank on Aug. 1, surrounded by her loving family. Adele was born on Jan. 14, 1934 in Walpole, the daughter of Mervin and Elizabeth (Haley) Rice; she was the eldest of four children.
She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Walpole, then went on to attend Lincoln Academy where she graduated in 1952.
She married Frank Y. McFarland Jr. on July 3, 1952 and the couple started their life together in Christmas Cove, where they raised their three daughters and ran McFarland’s Boatyard.

More than anything, she was a beautiful and special woman who lived each day to its fullest, and devoted her life to her family.
