Alan J. Plourde, 46, of Boothbay, died on Sept. 1 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor with his significant other at his side following a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Alan was born July 30, 1961 in Fort Kent, the son of Benoit J. and Imelda Parent Plourde. He was a graduate of Fort Kent Regional High School, and Northern Maine Community College as a licensed practical nurse.
Alan spent most of his life working in the medical field, starting as a nurse’s aide and continuing with his LPN work at Eagle Lake Home in Eagle Lake.
He moved to Boothbay in 1990, and began work as an LPN at St. Andrews Village and with several promotions became manager of Gregory Wing and Safe Havens at St. Andrews Village. He finished his nursing career at St. Andrews Hospital Acute Care, retiring due to his failing health.
Alan was a devoted and loving father to his three children. He supported them wholeheartedly in everything they chose to do. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, especially when accompanied by his companion, Debbie.
He was a member of Augusta H.O.G. Chapter, United Bikers of Maine-Lincoln County, and a committee member of United Bikers of Maine “Bikers Down”.
Alan is predeceased by his father, Benoit Plourde, and sister, Mona Plourde.
Survivors include his three children, Ben, Kristi, and Megan Plourde, all of Boothbay; significant other, Deborah Locantore of Boothbay; mother, Imelda Plourde of Eagle Lake; sisters, Beulah Knight and husband Dennis of Small Point, Sandra Jandreau and husband Lloyd of Portage, Gail Stadig and husband Gary of Chugiak, Alas., Linda Washington and husband Lo of Elk Grove, Cal., and Debbie Cormier and husband Frank of Eagle River, Alas.; brothers, Lloyd Plourde and wife Kathy of Spring, Tex., Marc Plourde and wife Rachel of Hermon, and Terry Plourde and wife Brenda of Fort Kent; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 5-8 p.m., Mon., Sept. 3 at the Simmons Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay. A Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m., Tues., Sept. 4 at Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church, Atlantic Ave., Boothbay Harbor, with Fr. Alfred Irving officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay.
