Alan L. Bradford, 58, of Whitefield, passed away Sept. 11 at his home after a brief illness. He was born on May 2, 1952 in Newport, the son of the late Phillip Bradford and Mabel (Parker) Bradford.
Alan was employed at Bath Iron Works for 31 years, until his retirement in 2009 due to COPD. He enjoyed nature and the outdoors, a passion he picked up as a youth member of BSA Troop 63 in Newport. He graduated from Wiscasset High School. Alan also enjoyed watching NASCAR races – avidly cheering for Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr.
Alan was predeceased by an infant son, Steven Alan in 1994 and brother, Charles Bradford in 1985.
He is survived by wife Tammy, of Whitefield; daughter, Laura of Whitefield; mother, Mabel Bradford of Newport; brother, David and wife Debbie of Millinocket; sister, Janice Bradford of Alna; nephews, Lawrence and Donald and their families; and a special friend and caregiver, Dan.
Memorial service 6 p.m., Mon., Sept. 20 at the Sheepscot Valley Community Church, King’s Mills in Whitefield.
