Alan Setzler Pooley, 79, of Sedgwick, passed away on Aug. 31. He was born in Madison, Wis., on Dec. 1, 1938.
Alan attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and received a BS in 1961, and a PhD in Endocrinology in 1968. In 1965, Alan married Roberta Fleming, the mother of his three children. After four years of postdoctoral fellowship in England, Alan worked for Yale University until he retired to Newcastle in 1996. After the death of Roberta, Alan married local artist, Willow (artist name: Helen Rundell), and lived in Brooklin. Alan was a passionate sailor, inventor, researcher, reader, environmentalist, trailblazer, caring friend, husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
The son of Robert Cecile Pooley and Lucille Setzler Pooley and brother of Robert Neville Pooley, Alan is survived by wife, Willow Runningwater; children, Nathan Pooley, Charlotte Deckhut, and Jessica Vets; and five grandchildren.
