Albert Leon Setz, 70, of West Boothbay Harbor, died Dec. 2 at his home. He was born Oct. 3, 1939 in Aurora, Ill., a son of Albert and Alma Jobe Setz. He grew up in Southern California and graduated from high school in Santa Monica. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961.
He was licensed to provide maintenance for fire equipment. He broke down and repaired fire extinguishers in Beverly Hills, Cal. He also worked for the Los Angeles County Waste Water Treatment Plant for 15 years. He met Marla J. Manning in 1962 and they later married in 1964. They lived in Mar Vista, Cal. before moving to West Boothbay Harbor in 1981.
He worked for Gardiner Waste Water Treatment for over 20 years, retiring in 2003. He also owned and operated Harbor Fire Extinguisher Service in West Boothbay Harbor which he re-established in 1982. He was a member of the Boothbay Region Country Club. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marla Setz of Boothbay; son, Patrick A Setz and companion Suzanne Boucher of Boothbay Harbor; daughter, Leah and husband Travis Timberlake of Boothbay Harbor; brother, Arnold Lee Setz of Lawndale, Cal.; brothers-in-law, Patrick and wife Yvonne Kendley of Boothbay Harbor, and Gary and wife Pam Manning of South Lake Tahoe, Cal.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Wed., Dec. 9 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay.
