lcide Joseph Gervais, of Waldoboro, passed away at home June 30. He was born in St. David April 3, 1924 to Aldric and Marie (Lagasse) Gervais.
Alcide lived in Lewiston for many years after serving in the Civil Conservation Corps and then at the Brunswick Naval Station for Stewart Williams Contracting. He was also employed at Brewer and Paradise Limoges Lumber Yards, as well as Falcon Ruler Company. He retired from Stanadyne in E. Windsor, Conn. after 32 years of work.
Alcide married Marie Delia Blier in 1950 and together the couple raised three children. In 1953 they moved to East Hartford, Conn. where he was a foreman at Stanadyne in East Windsor, Conn. until his retirement in 1985. The family returned to Waldoboro in 1986 where he enjoyed woodworking, photography, and landscaping and developing his “Quiet Place.” He was also a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Rockland.
Alcide was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Steven and Daniel; brother, Emile; and sister, Doris Dionne.
He is survived by wife, Marie Delia Gervais of Waldoboro; daughter, Janet Gervais of Waldoboro; and sister, Marie Viola Albert of Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thurs., July 7 at the family home, 59 Simon Rd., Waldoboro.
