Alfred S. Moses, 93, a resident of Chase Point in Damariscotta and longtime resident of Southport, died Aug. 28 at the Gregory Wing in Boothbay after a period of failing health.
Mr. Moses was born March 31, 1916 in New York, N.Y., the son of Alfred S. and Emma Garst Moses, and is a graduate of Exeter Academy, Exeter, N.H., Yale and Columbia Law School.
Soon after graduating, WWII broke out, and he joined the U.S. Army, serving stateside covering legal affairs for the Army.
Following in his father’s footsteps into the legal profession, Mr. Moses was a longtime employee of the former Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. in its legal department.
He was the fourth generation of the Moses family to summer on Southport, and in the early 1990s moved here year round.
Known for his gentlemanly qualities by all who knew him, he enjoyed playing tennis, sailing, and traveled extensively around the world.
Mr. Moses is survived by his daughter, Dana Moses of Southport, and four nieces and their husbands and children.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Sat., Sept. 12 at the All Saints by the Sea in Southport
