Alice Sanborn, 78, went to be with her Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Oct. 20 with her husband, William, holding her hand. She was born in Rockland on Nov. 29, 1933, the daughter of the late Hyman Lunt and Alice Knight. She grew up in Rockland, attended local schools and was a graduate of Rockland High School.
After high school she worked at GE Sylvania in Waldoboro for a number of years. After her time at Sylvania she worked as a caregiver at the Homesteads in Cushing, Owls Head, and St. George. After she left the work force she was a homemaker. She loved to help anyone and everyone; she was an angel in disguise. She was a member of the Word of Life Church in Waldoboro and loved attending services with Pastor Tom and Pastor Tim. She truly wanted to live her life for the Lord.
She enjoyed her family, especially the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. Family picnics and cookouts were always things that she looked forward to. She loved to travel and the trips she was able to take to Florida to visit her son were times she remembered with joy in her heart.
She was predeceased by her father and mother; first husband, Gerald Mank; daughter, Sheryl; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Crystal Harvey; brothers, Alton Drinkwater and Richard Lunt; and brother-in-law, Robert Blake.
Survivors include her loving husband of 14 years, William Sanborn of Waldoboro; son, Gary Mank and wife Priscilla of Panama City, Fla.; brother, Royce Lunt of Florida; sisters, Dorothy Blake of Cape Elizabeth, Shirley Bodman of Florida, Jean Curtis of Connecticut, and Joyce Nemeth of Damariscotta; grandchildren, Sheldon Harvey and wife Rachel, Wayne Harvey, Matthew Harvey, Karen Harvey and husband Troy, Kristina Harvey, Rhonda Simmons and husband Gary, Jessica Ellis and husband Ricky, Heather Snyder and husband Corey, Israel Harvey and wife Randi, Missy and husband Jamie McDow, Gary John Mank and wife Trisha, Jeremy Mank, and Josh Mank; great-grandchildren, Paige Harvey, Robert T.
