Andrea Elizabeth Pomroy, 60, of West Gardiner, and formerly of Dexter, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Feb. 12.
She was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 7, 1946, a daughter of Wesley and Elizabeth (Giese) Rockhold.
An educator for 38 years, Andrea touched the lives of students and teachers in Connecticut as well as Bristol, Bremen, Gouldsboro, Dexter, Gardiner, Hallowell, and Farmingdale.
A dedicated student, she earned her Doctor of Education from the University of Maine in 2005. She also held Master degrees in education from the University of Maine and Columbia Teacher’s College. She is also a graduate of the University of Denver in Colorado.
An active member of her community, Andrea was a member of the Gardiner Congregational Church, where she joined the choir and women’s club, and taught Sunday school. She was also a long-time hospice volunteer.
Andrea is survived by her husband of 35 years, Keith A. Pomroy; son, Shawn Ross Pomroy and wife Patricia of Bowdoin; mother, Elizabeth Arletta Rockhold of Brunswick; brother, Frank W. Rockhold and wife Julie of Wayne, Penn.; niece, Katie of Wayne, Penn. She was the loving grandmother of Nicholas Pomroy, the apple of her eye.

A spring burial will be in the family lot in Village Cemetery, Charleston, Tenn.
