Ann L. Long Ormsby, 65, of Freeport, died Feb. 20 at home with her family, after a two year battle with cancer.
She was born in Standish, July 24, 1944, the daughter of John and June Libby Rodrigues. She graduated from Freeport High School, Class of 1962.
She was married to William D. Ormsby in St. Thomas, V.I. on April 14, 2007.
Ann worked at the Falcon Restaurant in the late 70s and early 80s, as well as the cafeteria at L.L. Bean. She has been employed for the past seven years as the food service director and custodian at Chebeague Island School and loved every minute of it.
A lifelong resident of Freeport, Ann was all about family, her extended family on Chebeague Island and was anticipating the birth of her granddaughter in May, Hailey-Ann.
She had a passion for cooking, sewing and crafts. She enjoyed the 20 years spent on Damariscotta Lake.
She is survived by her loving husband, William Ormsby; parents of Freeport; sons, Christopher Long and girlfriend Robyn from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Michael and girlfriend Sara Coskery, and Marc Long and girlfriend Elizabeth Veregge, all of Freeport; stepchildren, Nola Ormsby, Claire Levesque and Celeste Tamburello and Mark and Jon Ormsby; brothers, John Rogers and wife Tami of Lincolnville, and Mark Rogers and wife Melody of Florida; sister, Peggy Flanagan and husband Mike of North Whitefield; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m., Mon., Feb. 22 at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. Memorial service 11 a.m., Tues., Feb. 23 at the funeral home. A second memorial service 1 p.m., Wed., Feb. 24 at the United Methodist Church on Chebeague Island.
