Anna M. “Endearing Dragonfly” Douglass, 49, of Bath, died Dec. 14 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. She was born in Bath on Sept. 9, 1960, the daughter of David W. Barnes and Bertha A. Cressey. She attended Dresden schools and graduated from Wiscasset High School in 1978. She was employed as a CNA in the Bodwell Unit at Mid Coast Senior Health Center in Brunswick. Most recently she was employed as a CRMA at Elmhurst in Bath for over 10 years. In 1997 she married Bryan Douglass and they resided in Bowdoinham and later in Bath.
She was active with the Boy Scouts as a Scout Leader of Troop #699 in Bowdoinham, enjoyed attending Native American Pow Wows and was a native American Dancer. Anna also enjoyed knitting and cooking.
She was predeceased by her adoptive father, Robert Varnum; step-father, Jack French; and brother, Thomas Varnum.
Anna is survived by her husband, Bryan Douglass of Bath; son, David Varnum and wife Katie of Bath; mother, Bertha French of Dresden; father, David Barnes and wife Gloria of Phippsburg; brother, Roger Varnum and wife Laurie of Dresden; step-brother, Mark Barnes and wife Lisa of Bath; step-sister, Katrina Barter and husband David of Phippsburg; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours 2-4 and 6- 8 p.m., Tues., Dec 22 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. Funeral service 2 p.m., Wed., Dec. 24 at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Coffin officiating. Gathering of family and friends will follow at The American Legion Post #21 on Congress Ave. in Bath. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath in the spring.
