Anthony Gordon Stachmus, 54, of Whitefield, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 19. He was born in Springfield, Mo. on Jan. 21, 1955, a son of Edward Douglas and Mary Elizabeth Howard Stachmus.
Anthony was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1982 to 1997. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Waterville. He loved and cherished his children. He enjoyed fishing. He was an excellent father grandfather and husband. He had a great sense of humor.
He was predeceased by a sister, Kathy Stachmus.
He is survived by his wife, Cassie Stachmus of Whitefield; two sons, Eric Stachmus of Patuxent River, Md., and Jason Stachmus of Bath; daughter, Mindi Stachmus of Cabot, Ark.; mother, Mary Elizabeth Heard of Bath; three brothers, Roy Stachmus of Phoenix, Ariz., Stephen Stachmus of Marsville Md., and David Stachmus of Princeton, La.; sister, Gina Dockins of Marsville, Md.; and five grandchildren, Lilah, Seth, Ethan, Leah, and Aiden.
Memorial services with military honors 11 a.m., Tues., March 24 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Burial will be later in the Whitefield Cemetery.
