Tony Zaccadelli Jr., 74, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully on April 21 at the Togus VA Center in Augusta, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 5, 1939 in Quincy, Mass., the son of the late Anthony Raymond Zaccadelli Sr. and Martha Kimbell.
He grew up in Quincy, Mass., and Medomak and was a graduate of Waldoboro High School Class of 1958. After high school he joined the Navy where he proudly served his country for four years. During his time in the Navy he was able to travel the globe. After leaving the armed forces he returned to Maine where he would work for a few years as a merchant marine before working at GTE Sylvania and then finally began to work for himself as he opened Zaccadelli Auto Body, a job he would have for over 50 years.
He enjoyed being around the water. When he was younger, he had a few different cabin cruisers that he would work on and fix up. He also enjoyed clamming. When the boys were younger, they would spend a few weeks camping on Damariscotta Lake, a family tradition they would hold for 10 years.
He loved to water ski, and was probably the only person that could accomplish such a task and not get wet. He would stand on the dock and be whisked away by the boat and when he was done the boat would come in close and he would ski right back onto the wharf. A trick many people tried to emulate but none succeeded.
He liked riding dirt bikes and motorcycles with the boys and was quite the daredevil. He also enjoyed racing at the Wiscasset Speedway and was one of the most agile drivers many people had ever seen.
He was a family man through and through. He was loyal and faithful, a true friend when you needed one. He loved his family and made sure to instill in them how important family really was.
He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Zaccadelli, and grandson, Greg Zaccadelli.
Survivors include his companion of over 25 years, Rose Marie Wade of Waldoboro; sons, Mark Zaccadelli and companion Laurie Preston of Bristol, Tony Zaccadelli III and companion Karen Kinney of Searsmont, Dennis Zaccadelli and girlfriend Sara of Bristol, and Stephen Zaccadelli of Bremen; Rose Marie’s children, Anne Wade and companion Ozzie of Waldoboro, Toni Osier and husband David of Bremen, Charlotte Richards and husband Albert of Singapore, China, and Jane Gilbert and husband Clay of South Bristol; brother, Walter Zaccadelli Sr. and wife Barbara of Augusta; niece, Linda Bailey and husband Wayne of Jefferson; grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha, Mark, and Tony Zaccadelli; step-grandchildren, Adrian, Albert, David, Vanessa, Megan, Elizabeth, and Isabelle; and nephew, Walter Zaccadelli Jr. and companion Laura of Washington.
