Anthony “Tony” Raymond Zaccadelli, Sr., 96, of Waldoboro, passed away July 9 at home, and has gone to join his loving wife Martha. He was born Feb. 1, 1913 in Pisa, Italy and was the son of Guiseppi and Angelina Zaccadelli.
As a young boy Tony came to live in America and was raised and attended schools in Quincy, Mass. In the 1930s he met Martha Kimball and they were married in 1936. They were married for 58 years before Martha passed away in 1994.
As a young man Tony became a very fine carpenter and started working in Quincy Shipyard. During WWII both he and Martha worked in the shipyard building ships for the war. After the war Tony worked in the ship building industry in several yards in New York, Chicago and Ohio. In the early 1950s Tony got tired of moving his family around and moved to Medomak. In 1953 he went to work for Sylvania Electric and retired in 1976. He and Martha spent winters in Ocala, Fla. and after three winters moved to Florida and lived there year round until 1993 when they decided to move back to Waldoboro to live near their children. Tony was a great carpenter and loved building things. He built his own 28 foot cabin cruiser and built his new home in Bremen.
Tony also loved being on the salt water. He loved lobster fishing and digging his own clams and really enjoyed deep sea and mackerel fishing. He most enjoyed hauling his lobster traps. He enjoyed hunting but his greatest interests were being on the water. He also enjoyed playing his accordion.
Tony was predeceased by his loving wife Martha; daughter, Joan; parents; three sisters, Anna, Mary and Kitty; and brothers, Frank and Guiseppi, Jr.
Tony is survived by his sons, Anthony “Tony” Zaccadelli, Jr. and partner Rosemarie Wade of Waldoboro, and Walter Zaccadelli and wife Barbara of Augusta; five grandsons, Mark, Anthony III, Dennis, Steve, and Walter Jr.; granddaughter, Linda; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Danika, Gregory, Mark, Jr., Samantha; and one great-great-grandchild, Lillian.
