Arabel C. Nelson, 84, of Camden, passed away Dec. 20 at the Glenridge Nursing Facility in Augusta.
She was born July 22, 1924 and lived her whole life in the Camden-Rockport area. She married Ralph E. Nelson on Oct. 18, 1940. Her family was the most important part of her life and she was always there to give advice or help you in any way she could.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Ralph Nelson Sr.; grandsons, Rodney Leonard and Terren Parent; brothers, Brian and Martin Eaton; and sister, Cornelia Eaton.
Survivors include her daughters, Helen Leonard and partner Larry Gross of Waldoboro, Lillian Hannan and husband Randy of Palermo, Dorice Austin and partner Lee Libby of Millinocket, Joyce Nelson and fiancé Larry Batz of St. George, and Gloria Nelson and partner John DeRosa of Oxbow; sons, Ralph “Buzzy” Nelson of Camden, and Ronald Nelson of South Hope; grandchildren, Kevin Pendleton, Doreen Parent, Kellie Jo LaBelle, Ralph Pendleton, Brent Austin, LeeAnn Nelson, James Nelson, Travis Nelson, Todd Stearns, Vicky Fales, Billy Jo Nelson, James Mahonen Jr., Selena Miller, and Anthony Nelson; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; step-brothers, Charles, Albert, Robert, Richard and David Eaton; and step-sisters, Cathleen Robbins, Flora Lowberg, Alberta McKinney and Marion Joy.
Graveside service will be held in the spring, at a date and time to be announced, at the Rockport Cemetery.
