Arnold D. McLain, of Edgecomb, died Sept. 14 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 14, 1947, the son of Dana Prior McLain and Gwen (Stover) McLain. He graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.
Arnold worked many jobs, starting in a shipyard with his dad, followed by lobstering, and then becoming a self-employed carpenter.
He loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite spot was the Allagash River in Aroostook County.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Robert McLain; and best friend, his yellow Lab, Sophie.
Arnold is survived by his family, Kimberly Lewis and husband Jeff, Travis McLain of Edgewater, Fla.; stepchildren, Mike Gudroe and wife Sara, Darrell and Sarah Gudroe, and Karen Thompson, all of Boothbay; nephew, Gavin McLain and family of Washington; grandchildren, Isaac Lewis, Whitney, Chelsea, Cameron and Ian McLain, and Gabe, Josiah, Eli and Sophie Gudroe.
A celebration of life gathering is planned for the spring of 2013.
