Arnold H. Leeman, 70, of Rockland, died unexpectedly at his home Sept. 15 after a long struggle with diabetes.
Born in Round Pond, July 16, 1943, he was the son of Floyd M. and Bertha A. Sprague. He was educated in Bristol schools.
Since the age of 17, he served as a volunteer firefighter with Round Pond Fire Department.
For several years, Arnold worked as a lobster fisherman out of Round Pond. During the winter months he worked with N.C. Hunt Lumber Company. An accomplished carpenter, Arnie also worked as a boat builder and also in home construction. He later worked at Wayfarer Marine in Camden.
He loved pets, nature and going on rides just to take in the sights.
For more than 24 years, Arnie enjoyed the companionship, love and support of Susie Gray, with whom he resided.
Besides his parents, Arnie was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Anderson in 1992.
He is survived by daughters, Carrie I. Perkins and husband Les, Jodi L. Leeman, all of Waldoboro, Marci A. Anderson and husband Travis of Searsmont; brothers and wives, Wallace and Kathy Leeman, Donald and Marilyn Leeman, all of Round Pond, Clifton ‘Conk’ and Jessica Leeman of Whitefield; grandchildren, Ashley, Allyson, Dillon and Alexis; companion, Susie; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., Oct. 5 at Chamberlain Cemetery in Round Pond. A reception will follow at the home of Don and Marilyn Leeman, Round Pond.
