Arthur D. Brown, 69, of Gardiner, formerly of Alna, Nobleboro, and Port Richey, Fla., and most recently with his son and daughter-in-law of West Gardiner, passed away at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn on Oct. 7 after a brief illness.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1937, the son of Arthur Brown and Phyllis King Brown, the second oldest of six children.
Arthur worked for many years at Reed & Reed Construction as a carpenter, and while semi-retired, at the Boothbay Railway Museum, until retirement.
He enjoyed woodworking, working on automobiles and small engines with his sons, fishing, taking Sunday drives any day of the week, spending time with his family and animals, and camping. He also loved to spend time at his winter home in Port Richey, Fla.
He is predeceased by his parents; second wife, Rose Coffin Brown; infant son, Arthur Jr.; brother, Ernest Brown; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is survived by his wife of two years, Donna Millard Brown; sons, Walter D. and wife Lori-Ann Brown of West Gardiner, Jerry Brown and companion Shyla Willis of Jasper, Ind., and Clinton Brown and companion Cathy York of Bath; stepson, Ken and wife Mitgalena Wyman of Colorado Springs, Col.; brothers and sisters, Thomas and Joann Brown of Wiscasset, Patricia and Glenn Collins of Woolwich, Pamela and Jerry Wornica of Barrington, N.H., and Philip and Lorraine Brown of Newton, N.H.; grandchildren, Will Wyman of Colorado Springs, Col., and Jennifer Rose Brown of Bath; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his dogs, Peanut and Tasha.
At the family’s request all services will be private.
Burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath.
