Arthur E. Tainter Jr., 55, of Waldoboro, went home to be with the Lord Jan. 16 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunwsick with his wife by his side, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in Bath Sept. 22, 1953, a son of the late Arthur E. Tainter Sr. and Gertrude Shaw Tainter.
He was a graduate of Morse Academy, Class of 1971. He was employed by Bath Iron Works for many years as a welder. Arthur enjoyed clam digging and had a clam bake business with his best friend, Dana Burnham. He was an umpire for ten years and a member of the Knox, Lincoln and Waldo County Umpires Association. Arthur was also a political enthusiast and was civic minded. He enjoyed golfing with his sons and coaching them when they were young. He immensely enjoyed participating in their sporting activities and being an active spectator at their sporting events.
Most importantly was Arthur’s love and commitment to Jesus Christ. Arthur’s strong faith carried him through his battle with cancer. His belief that he would be a winner regardless of the outcome enabled him to face each day with hope. He raised his family living by Godly principles and gave selflessly of himself to both family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Renee Thibodeau Tainter of Waldoboro; children, Sarah Tainter of Camden, Aaron Tainter of Pittsburgh, Penn., Zachary Tainter and wife Brittany of Portland, Caleb Tainter of Portland, and Simon Tainter of Waldoboro; mother, Gertrude Tainter Rouviere of Damariscotta; brother, James Tainter and wife Claudette of Bath; granddaughter, Liliana of Camden; sisters, Trudy Snowdon and husband David of Woolwich, and Jane Bucklin and husband Richard of Groton, Conn.; father-in-law, Tom Thibodeau and wife Nancy of Friendship; brother and sister-in-law, Nathan and Heidi Thibodeau of Friendship; brother-in-law, Gary Thibodeau, of Waldoboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Mon., Jan. 19 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Celebration of his life 11 a.m., Tues., Jan. 20 at the First Baptist Church of Waldoboro.
