Arthur R. Emanuelson, 73, of Waldoboro, died unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Dec. 12 in Warren.
Born in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Conrad and Blanche Urbanski Emanuelson. Educated in Chicago, he graduated high school there and later attended Kendall College where he earned an associate’s degree in Culinary Arts.
For many years Mr. Emanuelson worked in the railroad and automotive manufacturing industries. In the early 1990s he moved to Maine and became very involved in the Waldoboro community. He was a member of the Garden Club, a First Responder for the town, trustee of the library board, and involved on a bowling league. He was also a train enthusiast, active in a local railroad club.
He loved being outdoors and took great pleasure in fishing. He had a deep appreciation for Native American history and culture, and adopted the Native American name, Gray Timber Wolf.
He was predeceased by sister, Jean Marie Saunders.
Arthur is survived by children, Richard Emanuelson of Pennsylvania, Robert Emanuelson of Romeoville, Ill., Dawn Settles of Mountain Home, Ark., and Heather Lister and husband Simon of Plainfield, Ill.; and grandchildren, Joseph, Catherine, Daniel, Shannon, Sarah, Jacob, Kailyn, and Christopher.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tues., Dec. 30 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland, where a celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate. Interment will follow in Shuman Cemetery, Waldoboro.
