Arthur W. Rand, of Southport, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 4. He was born in Albany, N.Y. on Jan. 17, 1955 to Freeman and Ellen (Banks) Rand.
Art was a Vietnam vet, serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1976.
Art was a very quiet man who read a lot of books about airplanes and trains. He also liked to tinker in electronics whenever possible. He was “Uncle Art” to Frank, Charlie, and Linda and her husband Bob. Art will be sadly missed by his family.
He was predeceased by his father, Freeman Rand I; mother, Ellen E. (Banks) Rand; and brothers, Freeman Rand II, and Mark Rand.
Art is survived by sisters, Ellen Rand Mailhot and husband Richard of Manchester, N.H., and Eleanor Rand of Quincy, Mass.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thurs., May 7 at Pierce Cemetery, Southport.
