Athlene “Kitty” Moore Prior, 78, of Cushing, passed away Dec. 13 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Kitty was born Sept. 23, 1931 in Rockland, a daughter of the late Harry and Geraldine Dow Moore.
She was in the class of 1949 at Rockland High School and in that same year, married Harland S. Prior.
She was employed by Van Baalen’s for 15 years, 12 of which she was a floor lady. She later worked for Crowe Rope in the Twine Factory as a Plant Manager.
After leaving Crowe Rope in 1982, she and her husband, Harland, ran the Whispering Pine Boarding Home for the mentally challenged until she retired in 1997.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, jig saw puzzles and tracing family genealogy.
She was a member for the Second Congregational Church in Warren and the Lady’s Circle.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harland S. Prior; sisters, Jacqueline Robbins and Mavis Richards; and great-granddaughter, Alexis Ferguson.
Survivors include her sons, Dwayne and Dale Prior of Cushing; daughters, Diane Brooker of Waterboro, and Doreen Madden of St. Petersburg, Fla.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Thurs., Dec. 17 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Graveside service 1 p.m., Fri., Dec. 18 at Harbor Cemetery in Friendship with Rev. Robin Honaker officiating. Reception will follow at the Second Congregational Church in Warren.
