Barbara C. Heath, 73, of Whitefield, passed away May 18 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in New Harbor on March 30, 1934, a daughter of James Sr. and Maxine (Fossett) Holmes.
Barbara married into a pre-made family, adding to and making it her life’s work.
She enjoyed watching television, doing puzzles, shopping with her sister, and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Maxine Holmes; husband, Harold R. Heath, Sr.; brother, Robert Holmes; and sons, Roger and Harold, Jr.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Elmer Heath and wife Rosie of Jefferson, Wayne Heath and wife Sally of Spencer, Mass., Michael Heath and companion Joyce of Augusta, and Jason Heath of Whitefield; daughters, Norma Weeks of Boothbay, Cherie Beaudoin and Rick of Vassalboro, Holly Paul and husband Dick of Augusta, and Lorna Peaslee and husband Thomas of Boothbay; brothers, Galan Holmes and wife Patricia of Boothbay, Ronald Holmes and wife Donna of Narvon, Penn., Joe Holmes and wife Connie of Morgantown, Penn., James Holmes, Jr. and wife Dianna of Boothbay, and Clyde Holmes and wife Nancy of Narvon, Penn.; sisters, Natalie Grover and husband Dale of Hallowell, and Marguerite Fink and husband Dale of Narvon, Penn.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dog, Schnook.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Mon., May 21 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
Funeral service 1 p.m., Tues., May 22 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Whitefield Cemetery beside her husband.
