Barbara (Duttle) Meyer passed away Oct. 3 in Portland after battling leukemia for eight months. She was born March 29, 1947 in Bozeman, Mont.
A resident of Whitefield for 36 years, Barbara had the opportunity in the last few weeks of her life to meet in person the son she gave up for adoption 42 years before, and see her two sons meet at her bedside.
Barbara served many roles: grandmother, mother, wife, sister, aunt, and cousin. She was blessed with a large group of friends near and far. She loved and supported many people in her community, and was loved and supported by them. She was a humble person with a large circle of influence. Her physical presence will be greatly missed, however she will continue to live on as an inspiration to those who knew her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Ken and younger brother Richard.
She is survived by her mother, Patricia Duttle of Las Cruces, N.M.; sons, Mark Siegel of Washington, D.C., and Damon Meyer of Saco; siblings, Dorcas, Theresa, James, John, Timothy, Frances, Mary, Thomas, Sharon, Gary, and Anthony; grandchildren, Samantha, Sean, Jesse, Holly, Sophia, and Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews in her extended family.
Celebration of Barbara Meyer’s life, 1 p.m., Sat., Oct. 17 at the St. Denis Church parish hall in Whitefield.
