Barbara Elizabeth Howell, 88, of Nobleboro, passed away peacefully on April 10 surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in Thomaston on Dec. 4, 1924, the daughter of George Washington and Kathryn (Kirkpatrick) Wood. She was also involved in prize speaking, the press club, the glee club, student council, the National Thespian Society, numerous class plays and many other activities. She worked at Perry’s Market throughout her high school years and prior to her marriage.
She married her beloved husband, Maynard, of 64 years on April 17, 1948. Barbara moved to the Howell Family Farm in Nobleboro and enjoyed working on the farm and raising her children. She served as the Registrar of Voters for the Town of Nobleboro for several years. Barbara also was very involved in the annual North Nobleboro Community Day.
Barbara’s sense of humor, generous spirit, and love of life defined her personality. In the past few years Barbara especially enjoyed the birds and wildlife that shared her backyard.
