Barbara Gove Lewis, 90, of Boothbay, died at St. Andrews Hospital on Oct. 31.
She was born on Barters Island, Sept. 24, 1918, the daughter of Raymond and Mabel Sidelinger Gove. Barbara attended schools in the Boothbay Region and graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School.
Barbara retired from Central Maine Power in 1983, after working as secretary there for many years.
She attended the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor where she was a member of the women’s fellowship. She was a charter member of the St. Andrews Hospital Auxiliary, a member of Crescent Chapter O.E.S. and a former member of the Pythian Sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Stanley “Swing” Lewis of Boothbay; daughters, Jane Ross and husband Vernon of Palm City, Fla., and Elizabeth Karpe and husband Raymond of Manchester, Conn.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Potter and wife Tyra of Everett, Wash., Joel Potter of Everett, Wash., Jay Potter and wife Lisa of Katoosa, Okla., James Potter and wife Angie of Danville, Ind., Blake Karpe and wife Kathleen of Hopkinton, Mass., Diann Riley and husband Gary of Ellington, Conn., and Jennifer Schoeneberger and husband Christopher of Manchester, Conn.; many great-grandchildren; and cousins, Joyce Murray and husband Rodney and Judith Pinkham and husband Owen, all of Boothbay.
Celebration of her life 2 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 6 at the Congregational Church in Boothbay Harbor. Rev. Dr. Sarah Foulger will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in her memory go to Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care & Hospice, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841.
