Barbara Jean Hastie, 70, of Waldoboro, died on March 23.
Barbara was born June 27, 1937, in Woodstock, N.Y. to Walter and Helen (Longendyke) Hastie. She grew up in Woodstock, N.Y. and graduated from Kingston High School in 1955. She studied Graphic Design at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y.
Throughout her professional life, Barbara was a graphic artist at Heffenan, Hastie and Leibman, Inc., a company she owned with her friend Elizabeth Leibman.
Barbara summered in Maine for many years and moved to Waldoboro permanently in 2005 into a house that she designed. She was an avid reader as well as a superb cook and gardener.
She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Holdridge and her brother, Robert Hastie.
Barbara is survived by friend, Elizabeth Leibman; sister, Priscilla Koehn; nieces, Leslie Fertell and Jessica Tokle; and nephews, Andrew Koehn, Scott Hastie and Karl Hastie.
A private graveside service will be held at Dutch Neck Cemetery in Waldoboro later in the spring.
