Barbara Jean Goodwin, 78, passed away Dec. 8 at the Knox Center in Rockland.
The daughter of Ray and Viola Craig, she was born in Manchester, N.H., on Nov. 26, 1928.
Barbara grew up in New Hampshire and later relocated to Massachusetts. She and her husband, Douglas Goodwin, raised their family in Greenfield, Mass. and Bernardston, Mass. Besides their four children, they also raised their two nephews and niece.
The Goodwins had a lifelong love for the coast of Maine. After vacationing in Pemaquid for many years, Barbara and Doug made Alna their home. Together they owned and operated Palmer’s Store in Nobleboro for many years.
Barbara loved music, and especially enjoyed her husband’s band, Doug and the Country Swing. She will always be remembered for her kindness and gentleness of spirit, and for her loving devotion to her family.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Douglas, in 1998.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas of Greenfield, Mass., Ray of Tucson, Ariz., and Timothy of Ashfield, Mass.; daughter, Anita of Rockport; brothers, George Craig of Turners Falls, Mass., and Stuart Craig of Westfield, Mass.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Service to honor Barbara 10 a.m., Sat., Dec.16 at the chapel of Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Sheepscot Cemetery immediately following.
