Barbara M. Hansen, 84, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away Feb. 3 at the St. Andrews Gregory Wing, Boothbay Harbor.
She was born in Boston, Mass., Oct. 4, 1923, a daughter of Robert and Gladys McLellan and granddaughter of Mary Qualey. She grew up in Boston, Mass.
She worked at Baker’s Chocolate Factory in Dorchester, Mass. and later married Ralph Hansen and became a homemaker. She raised her family in Hyde Park, Mass. and Stoughton, Mass. She and her husband moved to Bristol in 1986 and later to Boothbay Harbor in 2004 to be closer to their son and family.
She was very talented in knitting and crocheting and loved shopping, her cat and pets, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Hansen, Sr. of Boothbay Harbor; sons, Ralph Hansen, Jr. of Osterville, Mass., Richard Hansen of Kennebunk, and Ronald Hansen of Boothbay Harbor; daughter, Betty Neilson of Norton, Mass; sister, Jean McAlice of Round Pond; brother, Robert McLellan of Brewster, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home at a date to be announced in the summer.
