Barbara P. Hodgkins, of Whitefield, went to be with her parents and brothers on Jan. 29.
Barbara was born on June 24, 1937 in Gardiner, the first of four children to Roy B. Potter Sr. and Mildred Smith Potter, and lived in Whitefield all her life. On April 19, 1957 she married Dallas M. Hodgkins and together they raised four children, who all survive her: Cheryl Sawyer and husband Bill, Greg Hodgkins, Daryl Hodgkins and Doreen Hodgkins.
Barbara worked as a lab technician for Augusta Hospital, 16 years as a receptionist for Dr. Hinck in Damariscotta, was co-owner of Dal’s Lunch, and worked 16 years as an office supervisor for Dr. Kilgour in Augusta, as well as working hospice for many years.
Barbara’s greatest joy was her family and she enjoyed celebrating many holiday gatherings, especially Christmas. She was talented at braiding rugs, knitting, crocheting and quilting alongside her BFF Donna McKenzie. She was a fan of NASCAR racing and enjoyed vacations in many locations as she loved traveling. She went on many adventures with her travel buddy Pauline Webb. Barbara was a devoted Baptist and was a member of Eastern Star.
Barbara was predeceased by younger brothers, Roy B. Potter Jr. (Pete), and Richard R. Potter (Dick).
She is survived by younger brother, John Potter; children; grandchildren, Jayson Goranson and wife Kimberly, Justin Goranson, Jamie Thompson, and Brad Snell; and eight great-grandchildren.
No visiting or funeral services will be held until spring, when there will be a graveside service.
